Meet the Unit Heads

Hi! My name is Sarah Bloom and this summer I will be the Pioneer Unit Head. This will be my 4th summer at North Shore Day Camp, my first summer as a unit head, and I can't wait! During the school year I
attend Tulane University, majoring in Social Work and Psychology, as
well as working for Fuel the Future Foundation as a mentor and tutor
for underprivileged kids. One of the reasons I love working at NSDC is because we are such a close-knit camp. I spend the majority of my day with the Pios but I definitely feel as though I know all the
campers and campers' families throughout the age groups. I'm so
excited to come back for a summer of laughter, friendship and fun!

My name is Max Schulman and  am excited to be the Explorer Unit Head for NSDC '13.  I am currently finishing my Freshman year at Miami University of Ohio where I am a finance major and plan to minor in information systems & analytics.  I was born and raised in Highland Park, Illinois and attended Highland Park High School. At Highland Park High School, I played lacrosse for four years and football for two so I love sports and staying active.  This will be my fourth summer working at NSDC, but this will be my first summer being a unit head.  Being an Explorer counselor for the past three years, I have watched and learned how the camp operates and functions.  Most campers consider me the goofy counselor that will never shy away from doing something outrageously embarrassing.  I am very excited to take on more of a leadership role at camp this summer because I have great ideas on how to make NSDC '13 the best ever and create fun memories for all campers.    I can't wait to have another great summer at NSDC!

My name is Lauren Sachs and this will be my 3rd summer at North Shore Day Camp and my first summer as the Trailblazer Unit Head! I am currently attending the University of Kansas where I am studying Special Education. I love being with kids which is one of the MANY reasons I absolutely love camp!I attended North Shore Day Camp as a little girl and have so many memories from camp that make me love it even more today! I can’t wait for this summer to start and to be reunited with the old campers and meet the new ones! North Shore Day Camp creates friendships that will last a lifetime and I am so excited to be apart of fostering those friendships as well as watching them grow! My favorite camp song is Yogi Bear and I am so excited to be able to sing it with all the campers again! I can’t wait for another summer filled with laughter, friendship and fun!
